Yakuza 6 Gameplay Video: Story, Battle, Chase, Environmental Destruction

Yakuza 6 convenience store destruction

Sega’s Toshihiro Nagoshi, producer of the Yakuza series, recently took to YouTube to show off some more of the upcoming Yakuza 6.

We first see Kazuma Kiryu taking on a pack of angry men in suits; their physiques and attire make it no surprise that they can all be beaten up by one guy. Note the environmental destruction, which has taken a big step up in this first-time-ever PS4-exclusive Yakuza. Kazuma then moves a copy machine like it’s Tokyo Tomb Raider.

If you want to see a chase scene that fairly well demonstrates that this is still a work in progress, you can skip to about 33:30. Our boy goes into the series staple Poppo Mart at about 37:15 and encounters some goons. Shelves break away like it’s Dragon Ball.

Yakuza 6 is expected out in Japan by the end of this year, while international release has not been confirmed. The west is meanwhile awaiting the PS4’s Yakuza 0, and if you ask me — which you don’t, but still — that’s worth the money and the wait, so play it if you like games that are good.

Elsewhere on the site, we’ve got a podcast about the Yakuza series (with a focus on O), and I reviewed the Japanese version of Yakuza 0 over here.
