Released in Japan as Ikenie to Yuki no Setsuna, Square Enix announced that I Am Setsuna is coming to North America and Europe this summer as a digital title on PlayStation 4 and PC.
From Tokyo RPG Factory, the newest studio within Square Enix, I Am Setsuna features a battle system inspired by Chrono Trigger:
Led by director Atsushi Hashimoto, Tokyo RPG Factory aims to capture the narrative depth, impactful storytelling and masterful character development inspired by the golden era of Japanese role-playing games and bring them to current hardware and technology. With a battle system inspired by the classic hit CHRONO TRIGGER, I AM SETSUNA brings back authentic RPG gameplay, beautiful art design and a sorrowful story to the new generation.
The I Am Setsuna website adds, “Tokyo RPG Factory is a newly established studio specializing in Japanese RPGs, started in August 2014. The studio revisits the ethos used to develop past RPGs to create a completely new RPG series, which will introduce the authentic JRPG style to current hardware using the technologies of today.”
Although Ikenie to Yuki no Setsuna was also released in Japan on PlayStation Vita, Square Enix didn’t mention the Vita anywhere in their I Am Setsuna announcement.
