Firewatch publisher Panic has announced that the game has become a sales success and that it was able to recoup its investment within a day.
In a blog post discussing the game’s journey over the past month, Panic revealed that Firewatch sold about 500,000 full-priced copies within the first month. “We’re so grateful. And relieved. But mostly grateful,” said the publisher. We’re also told that the responses Firewatch received were “overwhelming and amazing.”
Going forward, Campo Santo will continue to make improvements to the game. According to Panic, the developer has been consulting tweets, forums, and game streams to identify issues, and has even worked overtime to fix them.
Everybody at Campo Santo worked like crazy to make things even better. For example, a lot of people weren’t happy with the game’s performance on PlayStation 4, so the team cranked and quickly pushed out a PS4 patch that dramatically improved the PS4 experience.
And the great thing: we’re not quite done. We’re still fixing bugs. And we’re still working on ways to improve performance all across the board, including on PlayStation 4 and the Mac. There’s more to come.
