Telltale Confirms The Walking Dead Season 3 Will Debut in 2016

Telltale Games won’t begin talking about The Walking Dead: Season 3 until after Michonne wraps up in April, but the developer has confirmed that the new season will debut in 2016.

Speaking with Mashable, Telltale Games CEO Kevin Bruner addressed the multiple endings of Season 2, saying they “had a plan in the back of our minds of how we would make all these endings keep those threads going forward.” Adding that Season 3 will take an “unexpected” approach, he said, “From a role-playing, interactive storytelling point of view, it is not from the bag of tricks that we’ve ever shown anybody before.”

While Season 3 will allow for new players to “come in and get up to speed really quickly,” Bruner revealed that those who played the first two seasons will be able import their data:

We’ve got a strategy to help Season 3 players … collect all their data from the previous games. [W]e didn’t have the cloud services in Season 1 that we have now. So we’re going to have a solution for everybody that we’re not talking about it yet.

More news on The Walking Dead: Season 3 is expected around Comic-Con International this summer.

Telltale Games also has their Batman series this summer, with a second season of Game of Thrones currently in development.
