Uncharted 4 Story DLC Likely to Be in the Same Vein as The Last of Us: Left Behind

After Naughty Dog releases Uncharted 4: A Thief’s End on May 10, and some multiplayer DLC after launch, they’ll bring us a single-player story add-on.

While details for the single-player add-on haven’t been announced by Naughty Dog yet, Creative Director Neil Druckmann told the Toronto Sun that it will likely be in the same vein of Left Behind, the story DLC they released for The Last of Us that featured flashbacks.

“There are some loose ideas we’re playing with [for the story DLC],” he said, adding that the ending of Uncharted 4 “is very conclusive, and we don’t want to play with that too much.”

Although the Uncharted series is at the height of its popularity, and Uncharted 4 “will probably do better than the previous three games,” Druckmann said, “We’ve told everything we can with this character. As artists, it’s a good place for us to walk away.”

In an interview published earlier this week, Druckmann said Naughty Dog will resurrect the prototypes for The Last of Us 2 once Uncharted 4 is completely done. As he told the Toronto Sun though, a sequel would need to say something new, and he doesn’t know if any of their ideas so far have done that:

For a sequel to that game to work, it would have to not tread that same area, it would have to say something new, yet it would at the same time have to build on those themes. It has to pass all these tests for us to say, ‘Okay, it’s valid, it’s worthwhile to do this.’ And honestly I don’t know if any idea we have so far has passed those tests.

Who do you think will be the focus of the Uncharted 4 story DLC?
