Playable this weekend at PAX East, Plunder mode in Uncharted 4: A Thief’s End multiplayer was revealed today by Naughty Dog.
Seen previously in Uncharted 2 and Uncharted 3, Plunder is a take on Capture the Flag, with each team looking for an idol on the map to bring it back to your home treasure chest – and you have the added bonus of being able to throw the idol. Plunder will be playable on Island, Madagascar City, and Rooftops – the three maps in the beta and stress test.
Here’s what’s different with Plunder in Uncharted 4:
For those familiar with the classic Plunder game type, we’ve made a few updates. In previous Uncharted games, people carrying the idol could not traverse with it; we removed this constraint. Also, Plunder has been a five-on-five experience in the past; we changed that to four vs. four. No doubt this may cause shortness of breath for fans of the mode, but worry not! Given the number of mechanics that have been introduced into our multiplayer’s moment-to-moment gameplay, Plunder at four vs. four is perfect and we hope fans that experience this mode at PAX East feel the same.
Naughty Dog then teased that some good news is coming after PAX East. “We still have so much to share with our fans that have been waiting a long time to hear more about multiplayer,” Lead Game Designer Robert Cogburn said. “The reveal of Plunder is just another piece. Let me assure you, what we will be revealing soon after PAX East will please a lot of people.”
Uncharted 4 releases on May 10 for PlayStation 4.
