NIS America Ends Alliance With Atlus in the US & Europe

When Atlus was acquired by Sega last month, it led to the company becoming “very picky” when selecting a publishing partner for Europe, prompting NIS America to end their partnership with them, NIS America Managing Director Takuro Yamashita told MCV.

As Yamashita explained, their “alliance” with Atlus in Europe and the United States was terminated around ten days ago. This means that NIS America won’t be publishing Atlus games in Europe, and Atlus won’t be publishing NIS America games in the US.

He added:

Atlus became very picky about selecting the European publishing partner after it was bought by Sega. It always cherry picked its EU publishing partner based on who offered the highest minimum guarantee on a title by title basis. I noticed that it was very difficult for NIS America to establish an equal-partnership with Atlus.

Yamashita then thanked Atlus and its European games for contributing to the expansion of NIS America in Europe. “I would like to express my greatest appreciation to them for that,” he said.

Some of the titles NIS America published in Europe with Atlus include Persona 4 Golden, Persona Q, and Etrian Odyssey Untold 2: The Fafnir Knight.
