Expected to premiere at some point in 2016, The Walking Dead season 3 will have players “checking in on Clementine again,” and we may be seeing an older version of the wise-beyond-her-years protagonist.
That’s according to series mastermind Robert Kirkman, who spoke to IGN in anticipation of the conclusive chapter in Telltale’s Michonne spinoff series — entitled What We Deserve, it launches April 26. When it comes to TWD season 3, though, Kirkman noted that “we’ll be checking in on Clementine again. So we’ll be seeing her, seeing where she’s at and what’s going on with her, which is going to be great.”
Kirkman goes on to say that “season 3 will actually be getting pretty close to where we are in the comics currently – like the books that are coming out now are roughly in the same time frame that Season 3 will be in.” While the opening two seasons of Telltale’s The Walking Dead took place soon after the zombie outbreak, that the comics now take place four years after the fact support the theory of an older Clementine.
One way or the other, expect this year’s new season to feature “more comic book elements.” Said Kirkman: “I don’t want to reveal too much, but it’ll definitely go hand-in-hand with the comics a little bit more than Season 2 did.”
The Walking Dead season 3 will launch later in 2016.
