Citing technical hurdles, Naughty Dog currently has no plans to integrate multiplayer split-screen in time for Uncharted 4‘s launch, but hasn’t ruled out the possibility of introducing the feature at a later date.
During a Twitch stream from earlier today (via GameSpot), Lead designer Robert Cogburn solicited questions from the Uncharted community and, when quizzed about the aforementioned component, admitted that split-screen represents a “technically challenging” task.
As such, Cogburn cautions that, at least for now, Naughty Dog isn’t 100 percent confident that split-screen support will ever make it into Uncharted 4‘s multiplayer due to those “hurdles and obstacles.”
Uncharted 4: A Thief’s End arrives on May 10. Details of when the review embargo breaks can be found here. Spoilers: It’s tomorrow, May 5 at 12:01am PT/3:01am ET.
