CD Projekt Red: “We Don’t Have Anything Planned” for the Next Witcher Game

We’ve known Blood and Wine would be the final expansion for The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt for a few months now, but recent comments from CD Projekt Red Co-Founder Marcin Iwinski have suggested it could be the final piece of Witcher content for a very long time.

Speaking with Eurogamer, Iwinski was asked if they’ll be ending The Witcher series after Blood and Wine releases on May 31. “We honestly don’t know,” he replied. “We don’t have anything planned as of now to be honest on the next Witcher.”

He continued by saying there might never be another Witcher game:

As we said before, never say never [but] right now it’s really Blood and Wine. This is the end. Blood and Wine is [the] closing and there won’t be any Witcher any time soon – if there ever will be one. And I would really like to see how people feel about it, if they will enjoy it.

After Blood and Wine comes out, CD Projekt Red will be working primarily on Cyberpunk 2077 for release after 2017, with an unnamed AAA RPG coming between 2017 and 2021. Asked if that RPG might be The Witcher 4, Iwinski said, “We are a publicly traded company so we cannot comment on that but I can assure you we are not working on another Witcher.”

With The Witcher 3 “by far” exceeding of all of CD Projekt Red’s expectations, do you think they should make The Witcher 4?
