Naughty Dog Discusses Uncharted 4 Accessibility Options and the Inspiration Behind Them

Naughty Dog has earned a lot of praise for Uncharted 4: A Thief’s End from critics and gamers alike, many of whom believe that Nathan Drake’s latest adventure is the best one in the series. But there’s something else the studio is being lauded for as well – the game’s accessibility options.

In a recently released video, Game Designers Emilia Schatz and Alex Neonakis talk about inclusion, innovation and implementation of accessibility features, and it’s certainly worth watching.

Naughty Dog reveals that it was inspired by Josh Straub, the Editor-in-Chief of DAGER System, a website which reviews games for disabled gamers with a focus on accessibility. Apparently, Straub struggled with a QTE sequence in Uncharted 2: Among Thieves, and later met with Naughty Dog to discuss the issue. “I was faced with the reality that I had played this entire game, I had spent $60 on it, and I could not get any further without the help of an able-bodied person,” he said.

You can catch the entire discussion in the 5-min video above.
