BAFTA, the British Academy of Film and Television Arts, has announced plans to present veteran Game Designer Amy Hennig with “one of BAFTA’s highest accolades” at a special event next month.
Set to take place on Sunday, June 12, the presentation will commemorate Hennig’s decorated body of work all across Crystal Dynamics, Electronic Arts and of course, the Uncharted franchise. Currently, the former Naughty Dog Creative Director is at the helm of an as-yet-untitled Star Wars game in the works at Visceral Games.
An official statement from Harvey Elliot, Chairman of BAFTA’s Games Committee, reads as so:
“Amy is one of the industry’s most successful and respected creative leaders, and we are thrilled to recognise her outstanding contribution through this special award – one of BAFTA’s highest accolades. Her work in the games industry spans nearly three decades, and throughout this illustrious career she has championed the importance of a game’s script, with this creative vision pervading all her work. We look forward to celebrating this much-deserved award with her on 12 June.”
On June 12, Amy Hennig will join BAFTA’s pantheon of Special Award winners that also includes Minecraft creator Markus “Notch” Persson.
