After hitting 40 million shipped earlier this year, the PlayStation 4 has now sold-through more than 40 million units worldwide as of May 22, 2016, Sony Interactive Entertainment announced today.

We will strive to deliver even more exciting gaming experiences to our users, further driving the momentum and accelerating the expansion of the PS4 platform and its business this fiscal year by offering an unparalleled line-up of games, bringing our virtual reality system, PlayStation VR, to market and providing ground-breaking features and network services.
Sony adds that the PS4 is still the “fastest-selling console in PlayStation history,” with more than 270.9 million copies of software sold worldwide through retail stores and the PlayStation Store as of May 22.
They also highlighted these upcoming PS4 titles: Final Fantasy XV, Nioh, Ryu ga Gotoku 6, Gran Turismo Sport, Gravity Rush 2, and The Last Guardian. Indie titles Downwell, Jotun, and Push Me Pull You were also mentioned.
The PS4 is currently available in 124 countries and regions, and Sony expects to sell 20 million units this fiscal year.
