Gran Turismo Sport Doesn’t Include Dynamic Weather or Time “In Order to Raise the Frame-Rate”

Speaking with GTPlanet, Polyphony Digital CEO Kazunori Yamauchi revealed that Gran Turismo Sport won’t include dynamic weather or time, as they have decided to focus on the frame-rate. However, prior to the race, you’ll be able to choose the time of day:

We opted to not have the transitions in the race this time in order to raise the frame-rate and the quality of the image during the race. So the user will be able to set that before they enter the race. So you’ll still be able to have night races, morning, races at dawn, dusk, and so on.

Gran Turismo 6 included dynamic weather and time on some tracks, but it led to performance issues. Yamauchi adds that these inconsistencies prompted them to leave the features behind in GT Sport, and they hope to improve the proficiency of the series from a technical standpoint.

Gran Turismo Sport is expected to launch with a 20-car grid size. Polyphony will look at increasing the car limit, but they won’t change it if performance is negatively impacted.

GT Sport launches on November 15 in North America and November 16 in Europe.
