18-Minute Deus Ex: Mankind Divided Gameplay Demo Revealed, Breach Mode Detailed

As part of the Deus Ex livestream earlier today, Square Enix and Eidos Montreal offered up an 18-minute gameplay demo of Deus Ex: Mankind Divided. Set in the city-hub of Prague, the video has infinite life, energy, and ammo activated as Adam Jensen wakes up in the poor district of the city after being caught in a devastating attack.

A “connected puzzle shooter experience,” Breach mode was also announced today for Mankind Divided. Playing as a Ripper, a hacker in 2029, you try to obtain and sell classified corporate data by infiltrating some of the world’s most secure servers. As you play you’ll earn XP, credits, and booster packs to help you upgrade your skills and weapons.

“Challenge yourself, your friends, and people from around the world in the ultimate Deus Ex arcade twist,” Square Enix adds. “Deus Ex: Mankind Divided – Breach is a live game mode, introducing new challenges and features by rolling out updates on a regular basis.”

Eurogamer reveals that Breach mode will include micro-transactions for booster packs. As Producer Fleur Marty explained, they won’t be central to the mode:

It’s going to be light, because we want players to be able to go through the game without spending any money. There’ll be booster packs you can buy with real money, that’ll allow you to better the odds, and some cosmetic ones too.

Deus Ex GO was also announced today for mobile platforms.

Deus Ex: Mankind Divided releases on August 23 for PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC.
