Releasing worldwide in December 2016 on PlayStation 4, Kingdom Hearts HD 2.8 Final Chapter Prologue was given a new gameplay trailer today by Square Enix, which includes a look at Aqua, one of the original Keyblade wielders.
Aqua’s battle against the Heartless will be featured in Kingdom Hearts 0.2 Birth by Sleep – A fragmentary passage –, a new playable episode that includes “next-generation graphics.” It also includes a brand-new storyline previewing the upcoming events in Kingdom Hearts 3.
In all, Kingdom Hearts HD 2.8 Final Chapter Prologue includes Kingdom Hearts 0.2 Birth by Sleep – A fragmentary passage –, a remastered version of Kingdom Hearts Dream Drop Distance, and Kingdom Hearts χ [chi] Back Cover, a a new HD movie that sheds light on the mysterious foretellers.
At the end of the trailer, Square Enix says that there will be “upcoming announcements this winter” for Kingdom Hearts 3.
Kingdom Hearts HD 2.8 Final Chapter Prologue will be playable at E3 2016.
So far, the Kingdom Hearts series has shipped over 21 million copies worldwide.
