Former Assassin’s Creed Creator Patrice Desilets No Longer Plays Ubisoft Games

Patrice Desilets, ex-Ubisoft employee and one of the original creators on the Assassin’s Creed franchise, has revealed he no longer plays Ubisoft games and hasn’t done since 2012 because he can’t bear to clock eyes on the publisher’s logo.

When quizzed about Ubi in the latest issues of EDGE (via VideoGamer), Desilets conceded that he hasn’t played a Ubisoft game since Assassin’s Creed 3, but still loves the publisher “very much.”

“I’m not a good person to ask about how I feel about Ubisoft games. I haven’t played an Ubisoft game since 2012. I played the first two hours of Assassin’s Creed 3, and that was it. With all due respect, I love Ubisoft very much, but I cannot see their logo on my TV screen. It feels too personal. This is my flaw. I’m too personal.”

Desilets parted ways with the French company in 2013 for a second time, when he claimed that his contract was reportedly terminated. That fallout continued when Desilets sued Ubisoft for $400,000 along with the rights to his new game, 1666: Amsterdam. After forming his own studio, the ex-employee is now working on Ancestors: The Humankind Odyssey.
