Analyst: Sony Might Announce a Slim PS4 & Neo by September 2016

According to Macquarie Securities analyst Damian Thong, Sony might announce a slimmer PlayStation 4 at a game show in September, with Tokyo Game Show from September 15 – 18 the likely candidate.

Reported by the Wall Street Journal, Thong said Sony might announce the PS4 slim in September. However, Sony declined to comment on the matter.

On Twitter, Takashi Mochizuki, who wrote the WSJ article, said Thong thinks PS4 Neo will also be announced, and maybe released, in September:

Famous analyst expects to Sony launch PS4 Neo and PS4 Slim by Tokyo Game Show in September. Sony declined to comment.

At E3 2016, Microsoft announced both the Xbox One Slim and Project Scorpio. Asked if Sony planned to do their own slim console, PlayStation Europe President Jim Ryan said, “We’re happy with the shape of the PS4 and what it does.”

Currently, a report suggests that PS4 Neo will be released in 2016.

Do you think we’ll see Neo and a slim PS4 this year?
