Final Fantasy XIV Heavensward Update Palace of the Dead

Final Fantasy XIV 3.35 Patch Introduces Palace of the Dead in July

On July 19, 2016, Square Enix will release patch 3.35 for Final Fantasy XIV: Heavensward, which will bring in a new dungeon for players to explore—the Palace of the Dead.

Before dismissing it as yet another dungeon to crawl through, the Square Enix blog for Heavensward has hinted that this is a procedurally-generated dungeon that will require a pack of friends as well as patience to get through.

In the subterranean city of Gelmorra, deep within a forgotten corner of Issom–Har, stout-hearted explorers have uncovered the entrance to a labyrinthine dungeon. Those who set foot inside its maddening halls find their vigor drained by an irresistible fog of innervation, and repeated excursions have failed to map its seemingly inconstant architecture.

From that description, it certainly sounds like it will hearken to dungeon crawling of the Rogue and Gauntlet days, where each play session created a completely different map with different enemies, shattering all expectations every boot-up. If so, the Palace of the Date update may certainly test the mettle and perseverance of all players who attempt it.

Just a couple more weeks before Heavensward fans can check out this self-proclaimed “deep dungeon” for themselves.
