Episode 1 of Telltale’s The Walking Dead: Season 3 is set to premiere this fall, and today at Comic-Con, Creative Director Dennis Lenart and Melissa Hutchison (voice of Clementine) offered up some new details about the season.
[SEASON 2 SPOILERS AHEAD]
Reminding us that you play as both Clementine and newcomer Javier in Season 3, Telltale said, “Remember, you’ll be playing as both characters, although you may not be playing each character within the same frame of time…”
Season 3 continues the story of the previous two seasons, but “it also serves as a new entry point for fans who’ve yet to be caught up to speed.” At the beginning of Season 3, new players will be introduced to AJ, who is the son of Rebecca from Season 2 – and who will be making an appearance in the season as well:
So players who are new to the series will have a chance to learn more about Clementine’s backstory, while at the same time, those who have played previous seasons will have a story that’s uniquely tailored to the diverging paths they’ve taken in the past.
Additionally, Lenart says Javier is an important character because he’ll give players a chance to ‘meet’ Clementine. “They’ll also have a chance to play as a survivor fresh to the series, who is currently struggling to keep his family together in the face of the undead apocalypse,” he added.
Finally, the new poster revealed today (above) is an homage to the first The Walking Dead concept shown at San Diego Comic-Con in 2011. Unlike the original, Clementine is no longer protected and stands shoulder-to-shoulder with Javier. Telltale will give out more details later this summer on how you can get your hands on a limited edition run of the poster.
