Analogue and 8Bitdo recently created a wireless receiver for the Nintendo Entertainment System (NES) that would allow retro gamers to play their favorite classic games without the corded controllers. Now they have a similar controller system for the Super Nintendo (SNES), but the Retro Receiver offers slightly more.
Why are we reporting on a story regarding a Nintendo product? It’s because this Super Nintendo wireless adapter uses a bluetooth connection, allowing various controllers to sync up, including the DualShock 3 and DualShock 4 controllers. The Retro Receiver is compatible with the SNES, the Super Famicom system, and any system with an SNES/SFC-style controller port, which includes any all-in-one retro systems such as the RetroN 5. DualShock 3, DualShock 4, Wiimote, Wii U Pro, and all 8Bitdo controllers will work with the Retro Receiver. You can play your classic SNES games, on your SNES, with your PlayStation 4 controller if that is more comfortable for you. Plus, there aren’t any cords to trip over.
Up to four people can connect to the Receiver as well for wireless multiplayer.
PlayAsia is selling the SNES Retro Receiver for $24.99. The wireless SNES controller from 8Bitdo is an extra $31.99.
