Picking up where 2015’s The Fall left off, The Fall Part 2: Unbound is coming to PlayStation 4 in Q1 2017, Over the Moon Games announced today.
[Spoilers for The Fall Ahead]
Studio Founder John Warner explained that The Fall Part 2 “is richer and deeper in many different ways,” and they have a “truly bizarre journey planned for ARID this time around.” He continued:
After the unhinging events of part 1, ARID’s very existence is threatened when she is ejected from her body and projected onto a vast global network.
In a desperate attempt to save herself, ARID invades and attempts to control several other robots she finds there, each with different personalities and gameplay styles. Will ARID successfully enlist their help before it’s too late? One thing’s for certain — the process will change her.
Featuring a larger and more varied world, The Fall Part 2 will stick to its metroidvania roots and give each character (a butler, a soldier, a ship) a different gameplay style and story. This means some characters will focus on combat, and others interpersonal skills.
“Part 1 is very much about deconstruction, it’s her realizing there are some errors or some contradictions in the simple way she was living her life” Warner told PCGamesN. “Part 2 is about how you start looking at rebuilding your identity when you’ve got – in her case, because she’s an AI – very little left.”
The Fall is planned as a trilogy, so expect one more installment after Unbound.
