Call of Duty: Black Ops 3 is Still the Best-Selling Game of the Generation

Treyarch’s Call of Duty: Black Ops 3 is still the “top-selling current-gen game” nine months after its launch, according to Activision Blizzard’s latest quarterly earnings report.

Citing figures across both the NPD Group and Gfk Chart-Track, news that Black Ops 3 remains perched at the tip-top of this generation’s sales charts shouldn’t come as much of a surprise. After all, Treyarch’s shooter sequel became the best-selling title of 2015, despite launching in early November.

Eager to carry over that momentum to the release of Call of Duty: Infinite Warfare, elsewhere in the earnings call, Publishing CEO Eric Hirshberg heaped praise on Modern Warfare Remastered, believing it to be an “amazing package with incredible value.” The executive then went on to tease that the re-release is “really looking amazing” as developer Infinity Ward preps to deliver “breakthrough innovation […] as well as a return to the classic gameplay.”

Call of Duty: Modern Warfare Remastered will come packaged with the release of Infinite Warfare in November. Elsewhere in today’s report, it was confirmed that Overwatch‘s player base is now north of 15 million worldwide
