Square Enix Reports Increase in Sales, Dragon Quest Heroes II Off to a Good Start

For the three-month period ended June 30, 2016, Square Enix has reported an increase in net sales and operating income, thanks to its mobile lineup and Dragon Quest Heroes II

Net sales increased to ¥51.2 million, which is an increase of 21.1 percent from ¥42.3 million earned during the same period last year. Operating income was up to ¥8.9 million, a year-on-year increase of 13.1 percent from ¥7.9 million.

In a press release, Square Enix attributed the increase in sales to the Digital Entertainment section where its PC and mobile lineup did well.

New game titles such as “MOBIUS FINAL FANTASY,” “HOSHI NO DRAGON QUEST,” “FINAL FANTASY BRAVE EXVIUS” and “GRIMMS NOTES”, released in preceding fiscal year, are contributing to revenue generation from the beginning of this fiscal year.

The company also revealed that Dragon Quest Heroes II made a “favorable” start “on top of strong download sales of catalogue titles released previously.”

Looking forward, Square Enix will be releasing Deus Ex: Mankind Divided, Final Fantasy XV and Rise of the Tomb Raider for the PlayStation 4 among other titles.
