Allison Road Is Back in Development, Creator Confirms

Cancelled back in June, with very few details given as to why, P.T.-inspired Allison Road is back in development, creator Christian Kesler revealed to IGN. He adds that he’ll continue to work on Allison Road on his own, under a new label called Far From Home, which he co-founded with his wife.

A release window for Allison Road wasn’t given today, and Kesler couldn’t give any details on what happened with publisher Team17, but he was able to say how the revival came about:

It did take a bit of soul searching to find the drive again to work on Allison Road and to simply make a call on what to do next. After the set back, I took a bit of a break from working on it and re-evaluated all the work that had been done so far — the whole journey, so to speak. I started making a few (in my opinion) necessary changes to the story and the flow, little bits and pieces here and there, and before I knew it, it sort of naturally came back to life.

After pointing to the fact that he was the sole developer on Allison Road for “quite a long time” before bringing on more help, Kesler said, “For our gameplay trailer, I did all the modeling, texturing, shaders, lighting, etc., and thankfully a lot of the mechanics are already implemented from the previous development phase, so I can comfortably take the game forward by myself.” If new features and mechanics are required, or old ones need changing, then Kesler will begin looking for help.

In a Facebook message about the return of Allison Road, Kesler said it could be “a while” before we see the finished product:

And one thing that I want to point out is that I will give things as much time as they need to be exactly the way they are supposed to be.

I don’t want to rush this or do it half-arsed and just get it out there to make some money.

Whoever follows this page since the beginning knows that this always has been a passion project and it will get all the time and attention it needs and deserves. I guess what I’m trying to say is: This might take a while’.

Are you glad Allison Road’s back?
