Trigger King Xcaliber PS4 Adjustable Triggers Review – Trigger Happy

Coming in at $19.99, Trigger King’s Xcaliber PS4 Adjustable Triggers are designed to remove all unwanted trigger travel, which should mean quicker inputs, translating to the faster firing of a gun in a shooter, or swiftly changing direction in a racing game. Also, the extended trigger design is supposed to offer a more natural trigger feel. So after using these for a week now, what are my thoughts? Well, I will say that they do get the job done and feel okay when in use.

Adjusting the sensitivity and trigger stops is very simple with the tiny screwdriver that comes with the set. Simply pick a game, tighten the screws until you’re just about to hit the button’s actuation point, and there you go. It’s simple stuff, but effective in games like Black Ops 3, Battlefield 1, DriveClub, and Need for Speed.

Unfortunately, after a couple of hours playing, I noticed that the screws which act to stop the triggers moving past a certain point were chipping the plastic away causing damage to the shell. This wouldn’t be a problem if there were some sort of protection between the screw thread and controller body. Perhaps a thin rubber layer would work? Some of the more minor complaints I have are the gray color of the triggers and the large font of the R2 and L2 text.

Trigger King’s Xcaliber PS4 Adjustable Triggers do what they advertise, but the damage they cause, however minor it may be, needs to be looked at. If the screws could be covered with a protective layer of some sort, and other designs made available, I think this would make for a great product for anyone looking to customize their controller without breaking the bank.
