On Twitter, Arkane Studio Co-Creative Director Harvey Smith revealed that his latest Dishonored 2 playthrough (on Hard) took him about 15 hours, but according to playtests they’ve done, most people take between 16 and 20 hours to beat it the first time:
“#Dishonored2 playthrough yesterday. Taking my time, 15 hrs on Hard, Low Chaos, w/ Emily – Mesmerize, Far Reach, Bonecharm Crafting, Agility.”
“We were aiming at 12-20 hrs playtime (dependent heavily on play-style); playtest says more like 16-20 first time through #Dishonored2.”
Responding to some questions, Smith said Dishonored 2 “feels like the right length – longer than [Dishonored 1] – for a game that really rewards multiple playthroughs.” He then revealed that most people took between 8 and 12 hours to complete the first game.
As for whether or not Arkane is outsourcing development on the PC port, Smith said, “All versions are developed together in house.”
In other Dishonored 2 news, Arkane and Bethesda have released three PlayStation 4 dynamic themes for free through the PlayStation Store (North America, Europe). Also, don’t forget that pre-ordering Dishonored 2 through retail or digital stores gets you a digital copy of Dishonored Definitive Edition.
Dishonored 2 releases on November 11 for PS4, Xbox One, and PC.
