In a press release today, Ubisoft revealed that The Division is the top-selling title so far in 2016, based on retail sales tracking in Europe and Australia, as well as the NPD’s retail and digital game sales tracking in the United States. Additionally, based on those same metrics, Far Cry Primal is in the top 10 best-selling games year-to-date, while Rainbow Six Siege was in the top 10 in the US for August.
Thanks to the successes of those games, Ubisoft is the #1 publisher in year-to-date sales, according to GfK and the NPD. Looking at year-to-date market share, Ubisoft has 14.9% in Europe and Australia, 16% in the US, and 13% in Canada.
After saying the number of active players in Rainbow Six Siege increased by nearly 40% since the Skull Rain update, Ubisoft highlighted their future lineup: two expansions for The Division, Just Dance 2017 on October 28, Watch Dogs 2 on November 15, For Honor on February 14, Ghost Recon Wildlands on March 7, and South Park: The Fractured But Whole in early 2017.
It’s worth noting that last year’s Call of Duty: Black Ops 3 is the top-selling current-gen generation game, while Uncharted 4: A Thief’s End is the PlayStation 4’s top-selling game this year.
Do you think The Division will be one of the top five best-selling games of 2016 once the year is over? What do you think will be #1?
