In an ad from PlayStation Europe, it’s been revealed that both Resident Evil 7 biohazard and Batman: Arkham VR are timed PlayStation VR exclusives, meaning they could appear on other platforms in the future.
As the above gif shows, Resident Evil 7’s virtual reality mode is exclusive to PSVR for 12 months. Since RE7 is scheduled for release on January 24, 2017, the VR mode will remain exclusive until January 2018 – just a short time after Microsoft’s Project Scorpio is expected to hit the market. Of course, the non-VR version will be available day one on PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC.
Batman: Arkham VR, meanwhile, launches with PSVR on October 13 and will remain exclusive until March 31, 2017 – or roughly six months from its initial release.
With PSVR out next week, the PlayStation Store has revealed that Batman: Arkham VR is an 8GB download. If you’re planning on buying it, both the PlayStation VR headset and PlayStation Camera are required.
What do you think of timed exclusivity with VR games?
