Sean Murray: No Man’s Sky Twitter Account Was Hacked

Update: The Hello Games Twitter account wrote, “100% not hacked anymore… obviously those mails and that tweet were fake. Back to work.”

Original Story: After more than two months of silence, the No Man’s Sky Twitter account sent out this message earlier today: “No Man’s Sky was a mistake.” The tweet was quickly taken down, but when Polygon reached out to Sean Murray via email, they received this message: “The tweet is from me, but somebody from the team took it down. We have not been coping well.”

Following all this, the No Man’s Sky Twitter account has said their server was hacked, leading to the tweet/emails:

Server hacked. We’re binging Mr Robot Episodes as quickly as we can looking for answers. Ep05 is a cracker.

If anything was a mistake, it was using LinkedIn without 2FA.

In response to the LinkedIn tweet, Murray said, “Nice to see *someone* use that account at least. Please sort all my pending invites while you’re there hackers.”

If there’s any further developments or tweets from Hello Games today, we’ll let you know.

Last we heard, Hello Games is currently working on the next No Man’s Sky update. The previous patch, 1.09, came out over a month ago.
