EA Committed to Titanfall, Battlefront 2 Expected Next Fall

Electronic Arts recently held their second quarter earnings call, and some interesting comments were made regarding two of EA’s first-person shooter franchises.

While we have known that Star Wars Battlefront 2 is scheduled for a 2017 release, we never had a tight release date for the shooter. Now we do thanks to a question asked by an investor. After being asked about the future of Star Wars Battlefront, EA CFO Blake Jorgensen said that the sequel would launch “a year from now.” A quick glance at a calendar shows that a fall 2017 release is now expected for Star Wars Battlefront 2.

That wasn’t the only first-person shooter that EA were asked about, as they also fielded questions about the future of Respawn’s Titanfall series. As of right now, the publisher isn’t disappointed by the lower sales of the sequel. Instead, they are looking at a long-term game with growing the Titanfall brand.

“The expectation is that Respawn will continue to support and grow the Titanfall community through Titanfall 2,” said Electronic Arts’ Andrew Wilson, transcribed by Seeking Alpha. “And over time we’ll work out what the right cadence for next version of Titanfall is and/or any other titles they’re working on.” Jorgensen also chimed in saying that they are “working with Respawn to build a franchise.”

So, the good news for gamers is that they haven’t seen the last of Titanfall or Star Wars Battlefront, as Electronic Arts seems dedicated to growing both brands. We’ll have more on each title as Titanfall is supported with free downloadable content and Star Wars Battlefront 2 gets ready to release in fall 2017.
