Major Battlefield 1 Update This Month Will Add a New Custom Game, Server Rentals

Detailing what’s next for the shooter, EA and DICE revealed that a major Battlefield 1 update this month will add the Rent-a-Server Program, a new Custom Game, tweaks to matchmaking and server balancing, and other improvements. There’s also other updates planned for November, but none have release dates yet.

The first official Custom Game is Fog of War, which will premiere at Battlefest. “In this unique Team Deathmatch experience, you will be challenged by limited sight as you’re fighting in fog with the mini-map and soldier name tags turned off,” EA adds. “You’ll find Official Custom Games in the Battlefield 1 Multiplayer menu.”

Battlefest kicks off on November 16, offering a week-long celebration of the Battlefield franchise with new activities, log-in rewards, community missions, a unique Battlepack revision, a livestream, and more.

Also coming soon are Hardcore Servers, as well as these tweaks to the Suez map in Conquest:

Based on your input, we are changing the layout of the Suez map in Conquest to make the matches more balanced and the map size more fitting. We have expanded the layout to feature five instead of three flags. We’re also reducing the capture area size of the two control points located within the map’s villages (currently flag A and C) to create more dynamic matches. Furthermore, we’re adding one armored vehicle to each team’s base to give dominated teams a better chance to quickly get across the map and capture a control point behind enemy lines.

In December, the free Giant’s Shadow map will be added via an in-game update. If you pre-ordered Battlefield 1, you’ll receive seven days early access to Giant’s Shadow.

Looking ahead to 2017, the first expansion pack, They Shall Not Pass, is scheduled for a March 2017 release.
