Upcoming Diablo III Patch Will Include Remake of Original Diablo, Necromancer Pack Announced

During BlizzCon 2016, Blizzard Entertainment announced that it’ll be releasing a new patch for Diablo III, which will add a remake of the original inside the game. Called Darkening of Tristram, the patch will be free for those who own Reaper of Souls on consoles and PC. Here’s how Blizzard describes the content:

Head to Old Tristram in Adventure Mode during the month of January to discover a portal where you can explore a Diablo III recreation of the events that transpired in the original Diablo. Filled with iconic enemies, familiar faces, and some old-school items, this event is a nostalgia-packed adventure down memory lane. Transmogrification rewards, achievements, and a few extra surprises await those brave enough to plumb the depths below Tristram.

In other Diablo III news, Blizzard announced a new fully-playable class called the Necromancer for Reaper of Souls. “As a master of the dark arts, you draw your magic from the power of death itself, and command mighty armies of risen warriors! Oh, and you can make corpses explode. There are definitely exploding corpses,” wrote the developer. You can check out a trailer below.

In an FAQ post on its website, Blizzard said that it has yet to pen final details on the Necromancer pack but it’ll be out in 2017.

We’re still settling on final details, but the Necromancer will be available as part of the Rise of the Necromancer pack, set to release in 2017. Players will need both Diablo III and Reaper of Souls to access this content (or, in the case of console, the Ultimate Evil Edition on PlayStation 4 or Xbox One).
