Mass Effect Andromeda Gets a Cinematic Trailer, Voice Cast Revealed

As part of N7 Day today, BioWare released the Official Cinematic Reveal Trailer for Mass Effect Andromeda, offering a look at the characters, worlds, and enemies you’ll find in the game. If you want to see more of the gameplay that was briefly shown at the 1:12 mark, a gameplay reveal trailer will be unveiled at The Game Awards on December 1.

“The journey to Andromeda begins now,” the video’s description says. “Navigate the uncharted reaches of the Andromeda Galaxy to unravel its mysteries, discover vivid alien worlds, and lead the charge to find a new home among the stars. How far will you go to become humanity’s hero?”

BioWare adds on the official website:

Take the role of the Pathfinder, leading humanity’s search for a new home in this unexplored and unforgiving region of space. You’ll chart your own course, navigating the Andromeda galaxy to unravel its mysteries, discover vivid alien worlds, and lead the charge to find the human race a new home among the stars. You’ll be able to upgrade and customize your gameplay experience with a deep and flexible progression system, and lead your squad into action-packed combat using advanced weaponry, special abilities, and more than a few new tricks.

As part of Game Informer’s visit to BioWare, they learned that Mass Effect 2’s loyalty missions – where each companion had narrative-focused quests, letting you learn more about them – are returning in Mass Effect Andromeda. According to Creative Director Mac Walters, loyalty missions are just one part of the vast selection of optional content available in Andromeda:

The big difference between this and ME2, where you did a loyalty mission and that all impacted the ending, is that they’re much more optional in this case. If you don’t want to engage with them, you don’t have to. If you want engage with them after the critical path is done, you can do that.

Game Informer also revealed some of the voice cast for Andromeda:

  • Alec Ryder – Clancy Brown (Hades in God of War III, Mr. Krabs in SpongeBob Squarepants)
  • Scott Ryder – Tom Taylorson (Octodad in Octodad: Dadliest Catch)
  • Sarah Ryder – Fryda Wolff (Narrator in Civilization: Beyond Earth)

At the beginning of Mass Effect Andromeda, you’ll choose between playing as Scott or Sarah, and you can then customize their appearance. Whoever you don’t pick will still be a significant part of the story, and you can discover a mystery tied to the Ryder family in the game.

It doesn’t appear a release date for Mass Effect Andromeda is being announced today, as the trailer just says it will be available in spring 2017 for PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC.
