PlayStation Vue Vice President Dwayne Benefield has announced that the service will lose all Viacom-owned networks on November 11 at 12:01am ET. This means subscribers will no longer have access to these channels: BET channels, Centric, CMT channels, Comedy Central, Logo, MTV channels, Nickelodeon channels, Spike, Tr3s, TV Land, and VH1.
“At PlayStation, we always strive to provide the best value and service for our fans,” Benefield said. “As part of our ongoing evaluation of the PlayStation Vue offering, we have determined that removing the bundle of channels from Viacom is the best way for us to continue to offer the most compelling value to our fans.”
Benefield then reminded everyone that “there is no long-term commitment required for any PlayStation Vue plan.” To change your subscription, head over here.
In the PlayStation Vue FAQ, Sony answered the question of whether consumers should be worried about the channel lineup continually being in flux. “No,” they wrote. “However, we are always evaluating the PlayStation Vue service to ensure we are offering great value with the channels that matter most to our users.”
Although the Viacom channels are leaving on Friday, BBC America and NBA TV are now available, with VICE and more local broadcast stations from CBS and Fox coming soon. Sony adds, “As demonstrated by the new channels announced today, we will continue to expand the PlayStation Vue service by adding devices and networks that are highly requested by our fans.”
PlayStation Vue support recently came to Android TVs, with web support for both PC and Mac coming soon.
