Rumor: Marvel vs. Capcom 4 to Be Unveiled at PSX

Only evidence can be used in a court of law, but rumors are fun to speculate about.

This year’s PlayStation Experience is less than a week away and that has the rumor mill stirring. One rumor that is making waves online comes from a NeoGAF post where a user claims that Marvel vs. Capcom 4 is in the works, and that it’ll be revealed next week. It’s worth noting that this is only a rumor as of now, so don’t get your hopes up too much.

Here’s the full post from NeoGAF user Ryce:

I wasn’t going to share this, but enough beating around the bush: a few other GAFers and myself were told about a Marvel vs. Capcom 4 announcement at PSX. I didn’t think it would happen for all of the obvious reasons, but there you go. We’ll know for certain in eight days.

It does make sense that Capcom would have some sort of fighting game announcement at the show since the finals of the Capcom Cup 2016 Tournament will take place at the PlayStation Experience. That takes place December 3rd at 6 PM, and anyone who has a ticket to PSX will be able to attend. So, it’s safe to say that we will know whether or not this is true in the upcoming days.

Either way, when you consider how much buzz the rumors have garnered, there’s no denying that there is certainly a demand for a new Marvel vs. Capcom game. It makes sense considering the widespread success of the cinematic universe. Consider the fact that Rocket Raccoon was barely known when he was playable in Ultimate Marvel vs. Capcom 3 and is now a key part of one of the most popular film franchises. A lot has changed, and Marvel’s popularity is at an all-time high.
