Watch Resident Evil 7’s Spooky Live Action Trailer

Capcom tweeted out a new trailer (which we’ve embedded above) for Resident Evil 7: biohazard today, and it’s probably not what players expected. The teaser, which is a little over a minute long, doesn’t show off gameplay, as it’s actually a live action video. It’s a cool way to advertise the game (hopefully Capcom won’t have to deal with ASA complaints like Hello Games did), and is a good look at seeing what vibe Capcom is trying to capture. After all, both the new video and the game itself take place from a first-person perspective and will try to spook players through atmosphere. It’s one of the reasons why the game is thought to be a killer app for PlayStation VR, and has been one of the device’s major selling points so far.

If that spooky trailer wasn’t enough to whet your appetite for the latest Resident Evil title, then check out the new gameplay that Capcom put out. It’s over eight minutes of footage from the multiplatform title, and should give you a good taste of what to expect when it releases next year. Resident Evil 7: biohazard releases January 24, 2017 for PlayStation 4 (where it’ll support PlayStation VR), Xbox One, and PC.

Let us know in the comments below if you dug the latest video for Resident Evil 7. Was it spooky enough for you? Would you like to see more creative advertisements like this, or should publishers stick to showing off gameplay instead?
