THQ Nordic Acquires Sphinx and the Cursed Mummy, Legends of War IPs

THQ Nordic announced today that they’ve purchased the Sphinx (and the Cursed Mummy), Legends of War, and War Leaders: Clash of Nations franchises from Mobile Gaming Studios and Enigma Software. Sphinx originally released for PlayStation 2, Xbox, and GameCube; Legends of War has released on PlayStation 3, PlayStation Vita, PlayStation Portable, and Xbox 360; and War Leaders released on PC.

Founder and CEO Lars Wingefors said they received numerous messages about these IPs, and that Sphinx (and the Cursed Mummyis a good fit for the Nintendo audience:

These are not financially material acquisitions, but due to our love for these types of games they were natural acquisition targets that add up to our portfolio. Moreover, we also got a lot of messages from fans that encouraged us to add them. Among these titles, Sphinx (and the Cursed Mummy) is very well suited for the Nintendo audience – which we love to support. We are excited for Nintendo Switch, Nintendo’s new platform, and already have two other projects in development for it.

THQ Nordic recently released Darksiders Warmastered Edition for PlayStation 4, and they’ll be bringing Red Faction to PS4 in North America on Tuesday as a PS2-on-PS4 title (it’s already available in Europe). Ratings boards have also suggested that Red Faction 2 is coming soon to PS4.

Do you think THQ Nordic should bring Sphinx to PS4?
