For Honor “Is an Always Online Experience,” Ubisoft Confirms

In a private message on the Ubisoft Forums, community representative UbiJurassic confirmed that For Honor requires a persistent online connection at all times, even during the campaign:

We can confirm that For Honor is an always online experience. Some elements of progression, which is hosted online, are shared across story and multiplayer modes. Players will need to be connected to the Internet at all times to play For Honor.

GameSpot also confirmed with Ubisoft that For Honor requires an online connection.

Back in September, Creative Director Jason VandenBerghe said the campaign would offer a full experience to those who never went online. “We built the campaign so that if you bought the game just for that, that you would be satisfied even if you never went online and played multiplayer,” he said. “It’s intended to be a full experience.”

In October, it was revealed by Ubisoft that the planned split-screen gameplay was removed from For Honor.

For Honor releases on February 14, 2017 for PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC.
