Top 5 Game Fails 2016

While we already “awarded” the most disappointing thing that’s PlayStation related for the year, we can’t end 2016 without diving into the worst gaming fails of the year.

No Man's Sky

Whether its Hello Games over-promising and under-delivering, or people just expected too much from an indie developer, it's hard to deny that No Man's Sky disappointed many fans who were expecting the next evolution of the exploration/sandbox genre.

Mafia III

While Mafia III isn't a bad game by any means, it pales in comparison compared to not only the Grand Theft Auto franchise, but even to its last-gen predecessor.

The visuals were OK, the shooting was serviceable, and that's basically the entire game. It's an average game through and through except for the story. And people were expecting Mafia III to be better than Mafia II for obvious reasons.

Modern Warfare Remastered Bundled With Infinite Warfare

Modern Warfare: Remastered isn't a bad game by any means, but the fact that Activision kind of held the game "hostage" by force bundling Infinite Warfare really didn't sit well with a lot of people (including us).

MWR will and should eventually see a standalone release, but color us disappointed that Activision stooped to this level just to shift a few more extra copies of Infinite Warfare.

PS Vita Lineup

The PS Vita had a few awesome games release this year, but safe to say, Sony has given up on its first-party offerings. It's a shame, too, since the Vita is a portable that could have been so much more.

Thankfully, there's still a lot of support coming from indie developers, and Japanese studios.
And the winner is...
Winner - No Man's Sky

We want to say that this was a hard choice to make but it wasn't. No Man's Sky was the most disappointing thing of 2016 for us, easy.

While we reviewed it well, it didn't manage to grab us like it should have. Fortunately, Hello Games is updating the game and who knows? It might live up to the lofty expectations set by it some day, right?
