GameStop Lists Telltale’s Guardians of the Galaxy for April 2017

Announced at The Game Awards last month, Marvel’s Guardians of the Galaxy: The Telltale Series could be releasing in April 2017, if a GameStop listing is to be believed.

According to the product listing, the Guardians of the Galaxy Season Pass Disc will release on April 25 for PlayStation 4 and Xbox One. Since Telltale sometimes releases the first episode digitally before the full Season Pass Disc (The Walking Dead: A New Frontier premiered in December and the retail release is out in February), it’s possible Episode 1 of Guardians of the Galaxy will be available in late March or early April through digital stores.

GameStop also included the description for Guardians of the Galaxy in their listing:

Marvel’s Guardians of the Galaxy: The Telltale Series delivers a brand new story of the universe’s unlikeliest heroes, the rag-tag band of outlaws who go by the names Star-Lord, Gamora, Drax, Rocket, and Groot. In the wake of an epic battle, the Guardians discover an artifact of unspeakable power. Each of the Guardians has a reason to desire this relic, as does a ruthless enemy who is the last of her kind, and who will stop at nothing to tear it from their hands. From Earth to the Milano to Knowhere and beyond, and set to the beat of awesome music, this five-part episodic series puts you in the rocket-powered boots of Star-Lord in an original Guardians adventure, told in the unique and award-winning Telltale style, where your decisions and actions will drive the path of the story you experience.

In the original announcement for Guardians of the Galaxy, Telltale said, “The first of five episodes in Marvel’s Guardians of the Galaxy: The Telltale Series will premiere digitally in 2017 on consoles, PC, and mobile devices.” Telltale also revealed that the Season Pass Disc would include the first episode, and access to the remaining four episodes as they become available.

Telltale hasn’t given specific platforms for Guardians of the Galaxy yet, but with the recent cancellation of the PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 versions of A New Frontier, it’s possible it will skip last-gen consoles.

Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 hits theaters on May 5.
