Four of the top 10 crowdfunded games of 2016 set up shop on Fig.co, new figures have revealed.
Thanks in large part to the combined haul of Double Fine’s Psychonauts 2 ($3.8 million) and Wasteland 3 ($3.1 million) — not to mention Jay and Silent Bob: Chronic Blunt Punch and Consortium: The Tower — those four titles “accounted for nearly two-thirds of the total amount of the year’s top 10 crowdfunded games.” Fig’s overall success rate checked in at 78 percent, which is around four times the normal success rate for video games.
Players invested a total of $8.7 million across all projects, and the official statement from Fig reads as so:
“In 2016, we learned a lot about our community. More than 3,700 of you backed more than one game through rewards crowdfunding, pledging an average of $133.71 per project. That in itself is great, but what’s truly astounding is the average amount our community invested in games—$2,800.”
