New Nier: Automata Gameplay Shown at Taipei Game Show 2017. Features Brand New Areas

At a stage event during the 2017 Taipei Game Show, Square Enix showed off new gameplay footage of Nier: Automata that featured two brand new areas within the game, an abandoned amusement park and an abandoned department store.

The new footage, presented by Nier: Automata producer Yosuke Saito and 2B’s voice actress Yui Ishikawa, showcased a bit of the game’s exploration which included going through the ruined city’s sewers to get to the aforementioned two new areas. It looks like the sewers might turn out to be one of the more common ways of traveling around the city.

In spite being abandoned, the amusement park is still very much operational, with lights and fireworks displays still running, while the large department store has been overgrown and is now mostly covered in foliage. The footage also showed off a radio tower the player can climb to get a better view of the ruined and abandoned city.

Nier: Automata is scheduled to release on the Playstation 4 in Japan on February 23, in North America on March 7, and in Europe on March 10. A PC version of the game has been announced for later this year but no specific release date has been announced. A demo of the game has been available on the Playstation Store since December.
