Ni no Kuni II: Revenant Kingdom Will Run at 60fps on PS4, Gameplay Revealed

Previously only announced for PlayStation 4, Bandai Namco and Level-5 revealed today that Ni no Kuni II: Revenant Kingdom is coming to both PS4 and PC in 2017. As USGamer adds, Ni no Kuni II will have a simultaneous worldwide release on both platforms, meaning that players in North America and Europe won’t have to wait for a localization.

Discussing the reasoning behind a PC version, Level-5 CEO Akihiro Hino told GameSpot, “The technology is evolving, and having a PC version means the game is more accessible for everyone overseas.” As for why they made a sequel to Ni no Kuni, Hino said, “Ni no Kuni was such a huge hit, especially in Western countries, and Level-5 really felt the affection. Even I was surprised to have so many fans, so that was the main reason for a sequel.”

The gameplay shown off in the above video is from a recent event where Ni no Kuni II was running at 30 frames-per-second. According to Hino, the final build will run at 60fps, even on a standard PS4.

Here’s the description for Ni no Kuni II:

In the world of Ni no Kuni II: Revenant Kingdom, players enter the kingdom of Ding Dong Dell, where cats, mice, and humans once lived in harmony. After a treacherous coup, Evan, the young boy king of Ding Dong Dell is banished from his kingdom. Ni no Kuni II: Revenant Kingdom recounts the story of this deposed king and his journey to build his own kingdom and unite the entire world.

Supporting Evan on his adventure are friends Roland, Tani, and beings known as Higgledies who come from the power of the hearts found within people, animals, and elements such as fire and wind. Only individuals with pure hearts can see the Higgledies. The Higgledies will aid Evan throughout his journey, helping him in battles, and letting him reach places he wouldn’t otherwise be able to access. Join Evan on his quest as he fights powerful monsters, face perilous dungeons, and rises to once again become a King!
