Square Enix is open to the possibility of releasing a HD remaster of Nier, but only if the upcoming Automata “sells like hotcakes.”
That’s according to Producer Yosuke Saito, who hosted a Facebook Q&A alongside Yoko Taro and Takahisa Taura — Series Director and Designer, respectively. Fielding a series of questions and queries from curious fans, Saito-san noted that “there is a very high possibility if Nier: Automata sells like hotcakes, yes.”
When conversation circled back to Nier: Automata, Yoko Taro hinted that the spinoff will stay true to its cult original in that it features multiple endings. But in order to get to the true ending, Taro estimated that it’ll take players “around 25 hours,” before adding, “for completionists, it’ll be around 55 to 60 hours.”
Nier: Automata is set to debut in Japan first on February 23, before Square’s spinoff hits these shores on March 7. Those in Europe can expect the game to release on March 10. A PC version is also in the works.
