Rocket League Update on February 21 Adds 4K/60fps Support on PS4 Pro

When the next Rocket League update goes live on February 21, PlayStation 4 owners will find 4K/60fps support (on PS4 Pro) and 1080p/60fps support (on a standard PS4) in all arenas for single and two-player split-screen modes. Most arenas will also offer 60 frames-per-second gameplay at the same resolutions in three and four-player split-screen modes.

Responding to some questions about the update, developer Psyonix said, “We are using Checkerboard Rendering for the [4K] Pro update.” Asked what PS4 Pro owners with a 1080p display can expect, Psyonix replied, “You can definitely play Rocket League on your PS4 Pro while using a 1080p display, and you might see some improved performance above what we’re expecting with this update, mainly in the split-screen modes (playing with two, three, or four people on the same display).”

Next week’s update also adds Hot Wheels DLC support, free Hot Wheels-themed post-match item drops, a new fan-voted Player’s Choice Crate, technical improvements, and some performance optimizations and bug fixes.

“This is just the first of many planned content updates for Rocket League in 2017, so be sure to keep an eye out for even more from Psyonix HQ as the year moves on,” Psyonix Comminity Manager Devin Connors said.

If you’re in the market for some Rocket League DLC, there’s a sale happening right now on the North American PlayStation Store.
