Here at PlayStation LifeStyle, we’re a fan of all forms of gaming believe it or not. While we’re primarily a PlayStation-focused site, we do follow multiplatform gaming news and happenings.
As some very well know, one of these big happenings is the Nintendo Switch’s retail release which is happening next week, March 3. If you pre-ordered one back when the name, price and other details were announced, there’s a chance you will get one. But for those who didn’t or haven’t, well, prepare for to wait in super long lines, or for some price gouging shenanigans.
But we’re not here to talk about whether you’ll be able to get a Nintendo Switch at launch, but whether what Nintendo has shown so far has convinced you to pre-order one. In this week’s Now Loading, the PSLS crew shares whether they pre-ordered a Nintendo Switch or not, and why.

I actually dropped by at my local store to pre-order and then changed my mind. I don't want to invest money into a unit over just one game that I'm interested in. Nintendo needs to put out more titles that interest me before I take the plunge. I'm hoping they do, so that I can justify the purchase eventually.

I didn't really have great luck with the Wii and Wii U at launch, so I will be holding out to see just how good this system really does and what it comes out with to sway me. So not at launch, but maybe a year or so in.

I had initially pre-ordered the Switch planning to resell it at launch but after Nintendo's press conference and the ensuing impressions, I decided to cancel. I spoke to my 10 year old cousin yesterday (who has a Wii U) and he doesn't even know what the Switch is. I just don't see much demand out there.

No plans on getting the Switch until mid or late 2018. Just not enough substantial games coming out this year that are worth the early investment.

I already bought a couple of switches at my local Lowe's when our old ones got covered in paint. No pre-order necessary. Oh, you mean the Nintendo console? Nope, I still need to pick up the Wii U. I do enjoy a good Zelda or Mario game, but just don't have the time to commit to much more than my PS4. The Switch is an interesting concept, and I do plan on picking one up...eventually. Just not now.

I'll hold fire until the end of 2017. Don't get me wrong, Zelda looks absolutely fantastic, but between Horizon, Mass Effect and Prey, I'll soon have plenty of games eating at any spare time I have left long into the summer.

I'm invested in Sony, and I love my trophies too much to divest interest into a separate platform. I have enough to play on my PS4, that I really don't feel I need to waste money on a Switch/games/memory/accessories too. The price gouging to even get off the floor for a console that I'm only mildly interested in is plenty to prevent me from spending a small fortune just for Zelda. Maybe down the road the price will drop drastically and I'll get it on a whim... Who am I kidding? I'll never own one. It just doesn't interest me to take a step backwards in terms of technological advancements. I'll be saving up for the next iteration of VR instead.

While I haven't played a proper Nintendo game in ages, I have not jumped on the Switch bandwagon just yet. Mind, it's a tempting proposition, and one that I think I'll eventually cave in to if and when my kids nag me to get one.
That said, I don't see the need to buy it at a premium price. Who knows, though? If I see one down the line later next month or in April, I might get it. However, I won't get it just for the sake of getting it.
I completely understand why some would want to get one day one, and it's the perfect complementary console to the PS4, too. All I'm getting it for is Mario Party games, Mario Kart and maaaaybe Zelda.

I have pre-ordered, but I'm 99% sure I'm going to cancel before launch.
For me, the Switch needs more must-play titles to get me to part with my $300+. Though I'm excited to play the new Zelda and Mario games, I'm happy to wait until there's a good deal during the holidays.
Also, part of me wants to wait for the next iteration, as the chunky bezels really look ugly to me...
