Long before the release of Just Cause 3, there was news that a movie adaptation was being developed, and it looks like the project is already well underway as it has just been announced that Jason Momoa, of Game of Thrones and Justice League fame, will be taking the movie’s lead role, according to a report by Deadline Hollywood.
Momoa will star as Rico Rodriguez, the game’s main protagonist, revealing that the movie will adapt at least some of the game’s story. The adaptation will be written by John Collee, who has worked on other films such as Happy Feet and Master and Commander: The Far Side of the World.
The film, which is based on Avalanche and Square Enix’s popular action/adventure game, will be directed by San Andreas director Brad Peyton. Momoa and Peyton have worked with previously on Netflix’s Frontier series.
Known for its flashy explosions and chaotic action, Just Cause was originally released back in 2006 and the series’ latest entry, Just Cause 3, came out for the PlayStation 4 and other platforms back in December 2015.
