Report: Mass Effect Andromeda Microtransactions Confirmed for Multiplayer

While it’s already been confirmed that Mass Effect Andromeda’s post-launch multiplayer maps will be free, BioWare’s upcoming sci-fi game will indeed have microtransactions, it seems.

Spotted on UK retailer ShopTo are what’s called “Andromeda Points” which are used to obtain “Multiplayer packs” that contain items. The screenshot and description can be seen below.

Andromeda Points are an in-game currency for the Mass Effect: Andromeda Multiplayer mode only.
These points can be purchased with real world currency and can be used instead of the earned in-game currency to obtain new Multiplayer packs, which contain items used in the Multiplayer mode.

Don’t forget that these Multiplayer packs can be obtained by the in-game currency as well, so unless there’s something here that severely breaks the mode’s balance, then it should be alright.

In other Andromeda news, BioWare continues the Mass Effect Andromeda video blowout, and for today, we get to see how players can upgrade and drive The Nomad; Andromeda’s land vehicle that’s used to traverse different planet faster and more efficiently.

Mass Effect Andromeda is set for release this March 21 for the PlayStation 4, Xbox One and PC. Stay tuned to our review set to be published before then.
