A co-operative mode where up to four players fight escalating waves of enemies, Mass Effect Andromeda’s multiplayer is the focus of the fourth Official Gameplay Series video from BioWare.
In the video, BioWare reveals that there will be more than 25 character kits available at launch, each character has a unique set of skills and abilities, there will be more than 40 unique weapons at launch, there will be five maps at launch (see them all beginning at 3:38), all XP, credits, and medals are added up at the end of a match and awarded to each player so you don’t compete with your teammates, and Strike Team missions (shown at 4:30) give you rewards that can be used in single-player.
Here’s how to get started in Mass Effect Andromeda multiplayer:
How to Join Multiplayer
You can jump into multiplayer from the main menu, or even from within the single-player campaign. From the bridge of the Tempest, all you have to do is to launch the interface for Strike Team Missions. Here, you can send APEX Strike Teams on important missions for the Andromeda Initiative. Missions can either be completed by an APEX Strike Team, or you can play them yourself in a multiplayer battle.
Select A Character
Your first step will be to choose whether to make your match public or private. Private will allow you to limit the match to invited friends, while public quickly matches you with other available players.
Next, you’ll choose your character kit. There will be a wide selection of characters available at launch, including species from both the Andromeda and Milky Way galaxies, like the Human Soldier, Krogan Vanguard, and more. Each has a unique set of skills and abilities suited for different playstyles. Pick the one that best suits your style, or one that you’ve been waiting to try out.
Mass Effect Andromeda releases on March 21 in North America and March 23 in Europe for PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC. The review embargo lifts on Monday, March 20.
